This video has Dr. Mark Hyman and he talks about how to treat certain skin conditions such as acne. The Dr states that the average age of someone with acne is between 20 and 26 years. He also says diet is very important in treating and preventing acne. He says people spend over $1 billion a year on treating acne.

This video has a title that mentions a cure and home remedy. It seems the main treatment they have is having the right diet to avoid getting acne. This is debatable as I have seen other information claiming just the opposite, that what you eat doesn’t affect or cause acne.  However the video also mentions using the right kind of soap, lemon juice, honey and also getting enough sleep.

This video shows a patient a few days after getting a treatment for acne scarring. The treatment uses some sort of acid and the video shows the patient at three different times after the treatment.

In a segment of the Today show called “Gimmick or for real? The truth about acne treatments” the show trys to find out which acne medications actually work and which are “a marketing ploy”.  First the show talks about why people get acne. A doctor explains that pores get clogged then infected. Then the video goes into testing Pro-active with a 17 year old girl. After 4 weeks the girl was very happy with the results, however a doctor says she may have gotten simular results with a over the counter product that costs 1/10th the cost. The second test is for one of these over the counter products called OXY pads. Her acne cleared up after a few weeks also. The third test is for a prescription drug and it also gets good results from the patient. Again, the doctor says he believes most people can get good results from over the counter medicines.

Here’s a video that has some good tips on what to do to prevent and also control acne. The lady talks about not touching your face, don’t pick the pimples if you get them, says foods don’t cause acne and she also gives some recommendations for what to use to clean your skin.

Here’s a new treatment for acne that uses a vacuum to suck out the acne and then a strong light that kills any bacteria. The woman in the video has had problems with acne since puberty and has tried just about everything to cure it including several rounds of the strong acne drug accutane. This machine is called the PPX and was originally used for removing hair. Each round costs about $300 and most patients need 4 or 5 rounds, so it isn’t cheap. However, the patient in the video had already spent over $10,000 in the past to try to cure her acne problem. This new treatment has had a remarkable success for her and the doctor who uses this technique says it works in 88% of the cases.
